DeSmuME is an open source emulator

As a Nintendo DS enthusiast, DeSmuMe is the emulator you need if you want to play your favourite games on your Mac. Designed specifically for speedrunners, youtubers and casual gamers, this program supports so-called house software, and also facilitates debugging via GDB. With the features it has, DeSmuMe promises players of all levels a unique experience to suit their desires.

WHAT IS DESMUME?

Used by a large number of mobile Nintendo DS emulators, DeSmuMe can be classified as the patriarch of emulators for Nintendo DS games. It is compatible with both PCs and Macs, allowing you to download and play all your favourite games on a much larger screen.

However, in order to avoid misunderstandings, it is recommended that you check on the DeSmuMe publisher’s website which games are compatible with this emulator. After searching, downloading and installing your games on the Internet, you can start enjoying the best they have to offer once your emulator is up and running. Super Mario 64 DS, Star Wars Episode III – Revenge Of The Sith, Bomberman, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3 and many other titles will be offered to you in order to fully enjoy your Mac and PC games. A FEW THINGS TO NOTE ABOUT THIS EMULATOR

When you want to install and use DeSmuME, the default mode offered by the software is not recommended. Please switch to “fink” in the other modes. This problem was already noticed on two versions of Mac. It should be noted that misuse of the terminal can be disastrous for the stability of your PC, so please refer to the user’s guide provided by the editor without putting your device at risk. If you follow the steps mentioned there, nothing can happen to your Mac. However, if you have any doubts, think about finding out more beforehand.

THE LIMIT TO WHAT DESMUME CAN DO

DeSmuME offers 3 methods of use: one command line use, and two uses provided with a graphical interface. However, the compilation does not seem to work on MacPPC as the screen remains blank. On the other hand, it is possible to run some games and even to play on MacIntel.

DeSmuME is an emulator of the latest version of Nintendo which is very successful in the world. It is still in the development stage, and is not yet fully functional. However, this emulator has a good technical performance, especially since its editor promises great things in the future and we keep our fingers crossed that it will really meet our needs in the near future.
